17th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations Explained and Illustrated- free


After several years of developing and teaching programs to comply with the IEE Wiring Regulations, it has become apparent that many workers and personnel in the electrical construction industry have forgotten the basic rules and concepts underlying the supply of electrical energy and its use. This has resulted in misconceptions and much confusion over the interpretation of there gulations. This publication aims to clear up these misconceptions and jog the reader’s memory.

In this regard, particular emphasis is placed on the areas of greatest confusion, such as grounding and bonding, safety, and circuit design. The current 17th edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations, also known as BS 7671, to which this guide conforms, was printed in January 2008. This guide is neither information to nor a replacement for the Regulations, nor is it a rule-by-rule interpretation of the Regulations.

About the Book

This book is intended to clear up such misconceptions, educate the reader, and, if necessary, jog the memory. In this regard, emphasis is placed on the areas most likely to cause confusion. In this regard, the emphasis is on the areas that are most likely to cause confusion: grounding and bonding, protection, and circuit design, and circuit design.

The current 17th edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations (also known asBS7671), to which this document conforms, was published in January 2008. This document is not a guide to the regulations, does not supersede them, and does not attempt to interpret them on a regulation-by-regulation basis. To assist the reader, relevant regulation numbers a recited and cross-referenced in each chapter.

This book is expected to be especially useful to college students, electrical engineers, technicians, and managers of small electrical contracting firms that do not normally employ engineers or designers. It should also be useful in the library of those studying for the C &G 2382 series of certifications.
