About the Book
This book is the result of the author’s many years of teaching experience and was prepared to meet the needs of the Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering courses in the civil engineering curriculum of Indian universities. The book is written primarily in S.I. units, but for transitional convenience, problems and examples in M.K.S. units are also included.
The concepts are developed systematically in lucid language, and a sufficient number of numerical examples and problems are included for solutions, the latter of which are given at the end of the book. A summary of the main points and chapter references are included at the end of each chapter. Relevant Indian standards are mentioned where appropriate.
